‘गीता’ का सारांश इस श्लोक से प्रकट होता है– एकं शास्त्रं देवकीपुत्र गीतम् एको देवो देवकीपुत्र एव। एको मंत्रस्तस्य नामानि यानि कर्माप्येकं तस्य देवस्य सेवा।। अर्थात् एक ही शास्त्र है जो देवकीपुत्र भगवान ने श्रीमुख से गायन किया– गीता! एक ही प्राप्त करने योग्य देव है। उस गायन में जो सत्य बताया– आत्मा! सिवाय आत्मा के कुछ भी शाश्वत नहीं है। उस गायन में उन महायोगेश्वर ने क्या जपने के लिये कहा? ओम्। अर्जुन! ओम् अक्षय परमात्मा का नाम है, उसका जप कर और ध्यान मेरा धर। एक ही कर्म है गीता में र्विणत परमदेव एक परमात्मा की सेवा। उन्हें श्रद्धा से अपने हृदय में धारण करें।अस्तु, आरम्भ से ही गीता आपका शास्त्र रहा है। भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के हजारों वर्ष पश्चात् परवर्ती जिन महापुरुषों ने एक ईश्वर को सत्य बताया, गीता के ही सन्देशवाहक हैं। ईश्वर से ही लौकिक एवं पारलौकिक सुखों की कामना, ईश्वर से डरना, अन्य किसी को ईश्वर न मानना– यहाँ तक तो सभी महापुरुषों ने बताया; किन्तु ईश्वरीय साधना, ईश्वर तक की दूरी तय करना– यह केवल गीता में ही सांगोपांग क्रमबद्ध सुरक्षित है। गीता से सुख-शान्ति तो मिलती ही है, यह अक्षय अनामय ...
